How to prepare for competitive exams
Nowadays, education institutes take students on the basis of their abilities such as understanding of concepts, sharpness of mind and knowledge; therefore, they launch common exams for all students. These common exams are specially designed to test special characteristics of student and are often called Competitive exams or Entrance Exams because they create lots of competition among students. Through competition exams, institutes are able to choose cream of students. So, they find competitive exams as best method to find best students among all.
Now question arises, how to prepare for such type of exams? You may hear about students which study whole year but still not selected and many such instants. Actually, what happens is these students do not have a proper strategy to prepare for competitive exams. Competitive exams are completely different from school or university exams. Competitive exams are different from other exams because with such type of exams, institutes want to test not only your knowledge but also your concepts, common sense for subject and sharp mind; therefore, students which dependent on knowledge only, cannot be selected for competitive exams .
I have read somewhere that your mind should be God Gifted to clear Competitive Exams. Yes, it is true that God Gifted people such as Newton, Einstein are superior to us but everybody, selected in entrance exams, is not Newton or Einstein. A normal human mind can easily clear competitive exams but you have to modify some basic strategies regarding preparation for exams. These strategies are listed below:
1. Self Belief: You should believe in yourself and your abilities. You should believe that you belongs to the competitive arena and you can clear these competitive exams if you can perform to best of your abilities. Belief is everything and everything can be achieved through belief. There is a famous quote: “The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen”.
2. Knowledge: Knowledge is a necessary element to clear competitive exams. You should have proper knowledge about your concepts. We don’t have to acquire extra knowledge as conceptual knowledge is needed for competitive exams. We can prefect our conceptual knowledge by practicing questions based on these concepts.
3. Time Management and Data: We have to study minimum of 4 hours a day for competitive exams. We can manage this time by preparing time table for each day. We also have to record weekly data which ultimately helps in representing our performance graphically. We can take inputs such as time for each subject, part of syllabus completed, time for revision, questions attempted and so on to record data.
4. Sharpness: Sharpness of mind is mandatory for competitive exams. A sharp mind has many advantages such as concept understanding, quick response to a tricky question and speed. Main purpose of these competitive exams is to differentiate sharp minded students from others. The best method to sharpen your mind is to do as many questions as you can. Try to do questions in as minimum time as possible. I used to took challange of doing 100 questions in one hour or so. Challange yourself as its all about improving yourself and sharpen the skills. I have also noticed that fast reading with proper understanding sharpens your mind immensely.
5. Sample Papers: Here comes my last and most important trick.The best way to perform in any exam would be to do so many similar types of such exams or Sample Papers. With the help of these sample papers, our mind is able to build so many stragies and tricks about particular type of questions which ultimately helps us during Entrance exams.They have huge advantage as you can feel the mental atmosphere similar to that in competitive exams through these sample papers.Attempting so many sample papers helps in mental coherence during main exams.Sample Papers also helps in achieving a hard, stable concentration during competitive exams.

Problem regarding a particular subject or topic
Often, I read comments from students about having problem in a particular subject or topic. Its very common to have problems particularly in topics. But how to tackle problems? You can tackle problems by changing your mindset. Usually, a student gets upset and stressed when they have problems in particular topic, they think they can't get over this subject. Well, this is negative mindset. A negative mindset will attract nothing but more negativity. A positive mindset will try to find solution to the problem instead of taking stress and getting upset.
So, lets say you are not talented enough in physics. What will you do now? Develop stress or develop talent? Ofcourse, you should work on developing talent in physics. How can you develop that talent?
Well there are three steps to develop new talent
1. Inspiration: Seek inspiration, find your role model. If you know of any student or teacher who you think is excellent in physics, make him your role model for the time being. Try to become excellent like your role model. Your role model is your goal, try to get as close or even ahead if possible.
2. Amount of practice and learning from failures: Well you can't become your role model with one day of practice, can you? So, you need regular practice with lots of enthusiasm. Regular practice will make your subconscious mind develop the new talent in your conscious mind, isn't this great? yes it is!
You will have bad experiences or bad days or failures. Don't shy away from failures instead learn from them. Thomas Edison failed like 8000 times before making first "Electric Bulb". You don't have to have 8000 bad days but don't get upset with one odd bad day, instead learn from mistakes.
3. coach: The third and final step which is also the most imprtant is to have a good coach or teacher. Well, you can't develop the new talent yourself, you need to be guided by a coach, a good coach. Quality of Coach decides how much talent you will develop. So, try finding a good Coach/teacher. Understand the topics from teacher and do the self study yourself. A book can be a good coach too but I prefer you to go with a good teacher.
So, here is what we need to develop new talent! Find a good teacher, understand all the topics from him, practice a lot at home using the guidance provided by your teacher. Get inspired daily.
Different stages while preparing for entrance exams
You must have heard of students which got 95% marks in Board exams but can't make it to even below 1 lakh rank in Aieee. Its not their fault, such is the nature of entrance exams. To clear entrance exams, you need to regularly keep on improving and should regularly work on increasing the level of mind. When you just start you are at Level 0 but as you keep studying with enthusiasm and interest you will regularly increase your level of mind. You can get 95% in Board exams but if your mind is at Level 0, you will get rank above 1 lakh.

consider yourself as drop of water. When you first starts, you are just a water drop in the ocean(or level 0) but as you keep on improving you move to sea, river, lakes depending upon your preparation. Your target should be to reach the Glass level. Similar, is the practical case, more than 25 lakh( ocean level) students gaves entrance exams and only top 10000 students gets the college of their choice.... those 10000 students are at bucket level( which is not bad at all) and if you further improve yourself and rank among top 1000 then its glass level which is what your main aim should be.
Glass level would not be easy at all but you need to put some hard work to get seperated from crowd!
It needs Interest and Enthusiasm along with hard work to get succeed.
saturation point
While studying regularly for 6-8 hours a day per day, there will come a point, after some time(usually in days), when it will be almost impossible to study and understand, this point is called Saturation point. During this stage try to gave your mind as much rest as you can and after one or two days of rest, you can continue again.
Actually saturation points are very good signals for the mind as it indicates the growth of mind, mind is going to higher levels which is very important in entrance. They comes according to capacity of mind. Usually they comes in 2-3 weeks. But don't try to fake the saturation points, if there will be saturation, you will know yourself.

Jasper, your question is quiet valid. I think you are preparing for medical entrance exams. In my time i got selected for both DPMT and DCE.
For medical entrance, you need to concentrate more on learning, more learning. The more time you spent, the more marks u will get.
I used to study for 11 hours a day for medical and 2 hours for engineering and got selected in both DCE and DPMT.
So 11 hours per day for about 6 months are enough for medical entrance.

How to prepare for organic chemistry

Deepti 3 months is not a sufficient period for preparing for Dpmt. What I advice you is to read " Trueman's book" for biology read selective and most important parts like Genetics, Human Physiology, and Animal and plants kingdom.
Although it will be difficult part but if u can gave 12 hrs per day and can attempt lots of questions with help of sample papers then u will be ready to attempt Biology part which is most important. As per physics and Chemistry, these part will be relatively easy but still need preparation.
Also Join the test Series of Institutions like Narayana which is really helpful.

Anant Organic Chemistry can be a difficult part for some students but you can still prepare it. In organic chemistry you need to the basic mechanisms like induction effects, stability, Order of Acidity. You need to learn the various reactions of Alcohol, amines and their tests.
There are some common questions which usually comes in Entrance exams, so you need to practice sample papers and try to understand each part. You can gave 1Hr each day and you will be fine.
Although For DCE or AIEEE, i prefer you to prepare Mathematics as it makes all the difference.

For AIPMT, Trueman is best book. Infact, trueman is best book for all medical entrance exams. Bring a trueman and any objective book like Dinesh and do lots of questions. Questions are based on knowledge, so more you need more better u will get in biology.
Also, don't forgot physics and chemistry.

To get admitted in medical you need to clear entrance exams. AIPMT is for all over India and DPMT for delhi organizes entrance exams.
If you want to prepare for entrance exams, then you need to gave as much reading to biology books as possible. The sources may wary from either reference books such as trueman or magazines such as competitive refresher. You also need to prepare for physics and chemistry whose level will be easy in exam but still you need to prepare for it from scratch. I used to read trueman 4-6 hours a day and also attempted many objective questions. So, prepare from today itself.

when I was in 12th standard, my main aim was to prepare for entrance exams. All the concepts you learned for entrance can easily be applied in board exams. In physics you just need to learn derivations which are not in entrance. So preparing for entrance exams should be your main priority and then preparing for board exams will be as easy as moving knife in the cake. If you are preparing for engineering entrance then prepare MATH too as most students leave math till the end and therefore get behind in rankings.

@sarah for physics and chemistry you need to mainly understand concepts and formulas but for biology you need to learn everything, so 4-5 hours reading of trueman and then attempting questions from objective book should be ideal.
so, i can say 4hr for biology and 90 minutes for physics and chemistry per day on average.

shreya, cbse can be done if you studies entrance but entrance is impossible with cbse itself.
So concentrate mainly on studying entrance whether in schools or home. In school, i carries trueman book with me and cbse syllabus was never a problem. when u will be good at entrance, cbse is walk in cake. Also for cbse, i brought last 10 year papers and practices all 3,4,5 marks questions and got like 50/70 in biology which is easy way to go rather than reading whole book like a puppet. so, whether in entrance or cbse, sample papers plays a major role.
my advice would be to prepare for entrance, cbse will take care of itself.

no entrance exam is easy for a fact. you have to have the edge to clear in entrance exams. this edge can be generated by smart preparation and developing skills in your area of interest. Like for english, like i am preparing for CAT, i done few recognized courses in english. try to arrange previous years papers, join institutes.

In 20 days i afraid there is not much to prepare, only best thing you can do is to practice as much questions as possible from sample papers, try to collect questions of test series of any reputed institute. Right now practice as much as you can.
In bio try to read important topics like genetics, kingdoms, morphology.

If you have only 20 days then practice as much questions as you can. If you have another year then try to improve on your weak areas in chemistry but don't loose hold on your strong physics. Biology is most important for medicals, so if you can improve in biology then there is a certain chance as physics and chemistry comes easy in medical tests.

at this point of time, do the practice papers and you should concentrate mainly on biology. so if you studies 12 hrs a day then 6-8 hrs should be for bio as physics and chem are relatively easy.

as you said you are i +1 which is good thing as you got enough time to prepare. bring objective books for physics, chem ad bio and study like 3-5 hrs per day , first read the chapters and then try entrance questions as much as possible.
You need to revise what you studied in whole week in the weekends or holidays.
Thats the way to go, try make friends circle which prepares for entrance too. its important you attempt as much questions of different types as possible and understand the logic behind them.

I have no idea about kerala seat allotment. Also, if the rank is low and you can't get desired field you may again gave entrance tests.

I can tell you 2 years may seems bigger but without proper planning and goals it will pass very quickly.
From my side your aim should be to read as much biology as possible as it makes all the difference. But it does not mean you don't gave time to phy and chem. so, basically if you studies 10hrs a day then 7-8 hrs to bio and 2 hrs to phy and chem.

As you are dropping out this year, i will advise you to either join any institute or tution centre or atleast a group of friends which are preparing for entrance as it will gave you a nice environment to study. As far as books are concerned, try to first understand the basics, learn the concepts and then for aieee bring any objective book like dinesh or arihant, rd sharma for maths.
For IIT, use Arihant books for phy, chem and math
try to do as many question as possible!!

Math can be really difficult for many students, what i advise you to is to take entrance tutions in mathematics and try to make some topics as your strong topics like you can say my calculus and trigonometry is strong. Revise your strong areas periodically and try to learn new topics. Don't rush the process as ur main aim is to fully understand your strong areas.
If you are taking tutions for cbse then i advise you to stop, either take entrance tutions or self study for entrance as if you can get to entrance level then cbse is like piece of cake.
Getting succeed in entrance means first you have to reach entrance level which is by understanding the concept and then practice as much different types of questions on that concept as possible.
Its not impossible at all but you have to make some effort to stand separated from the crowd.

For physics you need to corelate the concepts like units and dimensions can be used in any of the topics, similarly you should be able to use vectors, free body diagrams and all the basics of physics. Physics has been very easy for me, what i can advice is to start using a book which is ob not very high level like use book of Dinesh objective physics and once you can learn concepts you can try out arihant and high levels books.

Its very common to get jumbled up during exam for many students. To remove nervousness you should develop confidence which is only possible by attempting so many questions that questions of exam does not look like much of a difference.
your concentration power depends mentally and physically. You should be physically energetic, no hang ups, no sleeping mode. To be physically active i used to eat 6 times a day in small quantities.
To get mentally active you need a competitive spirit as there are 25 lakh students each year giving these exams and you need to do some effort to stand apart from the crowd.

Alka to clear entrance ur mind is the key. Get ur mind used to the subject, read the theory first and then do as many questions as u can starting from low level to high. You have to train your mind day in and day out by proper study. First understand the concepts, read the theory and then do the questions. Start from low level questions( from objective books)and then ur mind will grasp the concept and then u can try high level questions(from arihant, HC verma). Also, if you study regularly, u will start to understand the topics better and try to either get an entrance tution or make a group of students which are preparing for entrance.

Foir medical entrance, I made biology as my most trusted and effective weapon. If you want to clear medical u have to get above 75% marks in biology. Chemistry and physics will come easy and if u get 65% or above in them then u will be selected.
But to get 75% in biology, you have to study at least 6 hours a day. Also, you can target like 40 pages a day with weekends for revision. You should have a fast reading speed, not only read fast but try to understand it too. Fast reading will make 6 hours looks like 12 hours of an ordinary student. Try to slowly increase your reading speed. Try to understand the topics using the diagrams given. Note the important pages, important points and practice as many questions as you can.

There will be tricky questions in entrance exams. Usually u gets 2 tricks in each question. The best thing you can do is to clear your basics and fully understand the concepts. The basics such as units and measurements, vectors are really important and you can see them in whole physics. you can see vectors in force, electric field, magnetic field and list goes on. Try to be isolated while studying. See the weightage for each unit in entrance and do the high weightage units first and then the less important units. Try to make a timetable which will suit you best and study as much as you can with interest.

So, you know what i am talking about. Many of us cannot succeed because of lack of discipline. So, i advice you to bring the medical books and study daily for atleast 8 hours a day, everyday. Practice questions, as much as you can, join a test series. One thing you should know, that you can workout your mind by fast reading but understanding what you read. If you can read fast and understand then you are letting your mind expand and it will grasp concepts easily. So, discipline is you have to just keep doing this regularly: study for 8 hours, do as much questions related and mind workout( fast reading, puzzles).
Let your mind do the rest!!

Anmol, physics can be problem for many. What i advice you is to start from basics( units,vectors, motion). But you should not let your performance in chem and bio, down, due to physics. Strengthen your concepts in bio and chem and learn physics slowly.
I had a similar problem in mathematics, what i does that time, is i started doing the units which have more weightage and i attempted many many questions to gain confidence. So you can do similar in physics, you can bring objective dinesh book and start doing as many questions possible. when you will gain your confidence, it will be much easy afterwords.

medical preparations are different from engineering. Here you need to concentrate on time you gave in biology. With more time you also should be albe to read fast to leverage your progress. Rest chemistry and physics are of substandard level if compared to DCE or AIEEE

Time depends on how you prepare for it. If you keep it simple will be great. First go through the basic theory in maths n physics and then attempt as many questions as possible, For chemistry i advice you to concentrate on the questions from previous years entrance exams specially in organic and physical chemistry. For organic go through the basic laws, induction, resonance effect, tests, differences between two organic compounds and lots of previous years questions. I have seen many times 10/40 questions in chemistry comes from previous papers in chemistry.
Study as much as you can , keep yourself inspired and motivated.
The key is to gave your best in the examination room, so prepare for it, do as much sample papers as you can.
Concentrate on your strong subjects and slowly improve on your week subjects.
ravishankar... what i usually does at that time is to take occasional holidays from school to have time for serious studies..... to revise physics of 11th i have taken a medical leave for one week in 12th class , you can continue your tutions. You should concentrate on entrance if engineering is your goal and ofcourse gave much time to it.
@sophia for medical entrance i prefer you trueman(theory)+Dinesh objective( questions) for biology, for physics any objective book, for chemistry you can choose OP aggarwaal and dinesh objective.
Gave 75% time for biology and read fast which will enhance your understanding, memory and easyness for physics and chemistry.
6 months are not very sufficient for biology, so gave much time and do fast reading.
Take rest during saturated phase.

hi, iam preparing for aiims which author is better elementary or dinesh or pradeep n i m not good at craming but my basics are clear, i understand a thing and then do it so wat to do abt scientific names n so on. please reply as soon as possible.

For the basic books you can use trueman + dinesh objective, dinesh objective you can also use to practice questions. The questions for AIIMS will have a little high level but achieveble. Its good you knew the basics, just practice as many questions from dinesh objective and then you can join the question series from any institute or test series before entrance.
At that time, i used to practice like 300-500 questions a day but first learn the theory from the book( i used trueman+dinesh).
If you are not preparing for engineering then you can gave like 10-13 hours a day.... fast reading will do world of good to you.... increase the speed...
To get selected in AIIMS you should have the edge over others.
Also, if you can't understand it at all then gave brain a rest, usually takes a day.

5 months are enough to prepare for anything, you just need hardwork and that in correct direction. Concentrate on entrance syllabus, do all the objective questions and as much sample papers as you can. As far as boards are concerned, i studied like 5 days before my first exam and the studied for other exams in holidays. The advantage of doing entrance will be that you can easily grasp Board's physics,chemistry and maths.
So, my advice will be to study entrance as much as possible and try to finish off your entire entrance syllabus and for boards you can study ncert or any other book, 10 days before first exam.

As there is not much time left, so you can concentrate on first doing the important parts and then the sample papers as many as you can. It good that you definately want to passthis time and i can tell you, having a definate goal keeps you motivated all the time.

Good to know about you. I can tell you 2 years time is good enough to get place even in AIIMS.
Before starting any preparation, make a definate goal.. like i want to get 100 rank in AIPMT. Then study as much as you can from objective biology, books like trueman for biology and dinesh objective.
For physics and chemistry , the exam is not much difficult in medical side, so gave them like 1 hrs each per day. Dinesh objective for physics and chemistry are best for medical.
Also remember that marks in Board has nothing to do with entrance... Entrace is different level altogether, so you have to raise your level to do the tricky questions.
For biology, the best thing you can do is read fast and understand. Reading fast, over period of time, will increase grasping power of mind significantly and will also help you in physics and chemistry.
This will be very entertaining stuff for you over next two years and ALWAYS do JUSTICE to your definate GOAL.

six month time is good enough if you can study daily with some purpose. Your main aim should be toraise your level of mind as then things will be easy. The best thing to raise mind level is to practice as many different types of questions as you can. First do questions from Objective books and then from ARIHANT.
If math is your strong subject, keep it strong as its your ace subject. Try to gain ground in physics and chemistry as they are also relatively easy, if you have right books and positive mindset.
For last 1 month try to do as many sample papers as you can, join test series.

You need good preparation and useful books to clear entrance exams. For IIT, try to get last 5 years question papers, sample papers and books like TMH, Arihant. Try to prepare yourself for high level questions.

Its only 4 months now.... so you need to concentrate on units which have a high weightage in all of physics, chem and biology.
First read all the theory and then attempt as much questions as you can of different types.
In a day gave 8 hours to biology, 1.5 to phy and chem each. Main focus should be on biology but don't completely ignore physics and chemistry.

I can't understand the meaning of sincerely in that case. If you want to hit a gunshot... then you should know how to aim... so if you want to answer the questions in entrance... you should have knowledge of all the basics...
5 month is fairly good time, you can still cover lot of ground, just need a self belief.

Level of physics and chemistry, in dpmt, will be of dinesh objective level. So, attempt all the previous year questions from dinesh objective and then sample papers, you can also join a test series in the end.
For physics, try to understand all the basics first then it will be a very easy job.
Trueman is great for biology along with dinesh objective( to attempt the questions). You don't need an ncert as trueman has already covered ncert.

It took me a little late to decide which stream to opt for and even i started with coaching little late and i wasted a few months and i am not being able to come back on the track. you are in 11th class means you have more than 1 year to study which is good enough period to get selected in Entrance. Also, Don't get nervous or worried, or feel guilty instead bring home the books such as trueman, Dinesh objectives for all phy, chem and bio. Study Biology for like 4-6 hrs a day and phy/chem 10hrs a week. It may look tough at starting, so take it easy, concentrate on concepts you learned and practice as much as you can. Although self study is what needed for entrance but you can go for a good reputed tutor to understand the basics. Entrance is all about understanding and applying.

For numerical portions, you need to attempt the practice questions from Dinesh objective and never shy of watching the solutions to these questions. Also, if you are still have problems then find a good reputed tutor to understand the basics.

Its not chapters, its units for biology. There are like 5-8 units there. Genetics, morphology of plants, morphology of animals are important, Human Organ systems are important units but try to do all the units. Do as many questions as possible. Attempt sample papers, notice the important units and learn accordingly.
All books are good at their own place, i found dinesh as useful but u can try ABC if you want to. Its just about learning.
@usha questions will be objective. Learning ncert alone is not enough but if you are short on time the n go for ncert and attempt as many questions and understand.

Aipmt is based mainly upon ncert syllabus( but still need to review trueman) but AIIMs u can get some brainstorming questions and level of exam will be difficult but managable.
Depends upon you, if you are feeling fresh and active u could study whole night. u don't have to attend school everyday, i used to take deliberate leave from school just to prepare for entrance.
It depends on individual if he/she wants to study for entrance or board percentage as both have their significance.

Best thing you can do is
1) attempt one sample paper of chemistry and math per day.
2) Try to improve on your strong topics in maths and chemistry as then you can be confident of some marks rather than nothing. side by side try improve on weak areas too.
3) Do the units which are high in weightage.

For Boards, i just studied 5 days before first paper and in holidays between. I was able to do so because I have all concepts cleared by studying entrance syllabus. I advice you to start studying entrance syllabus, practice as much as you can. Study with desire, interest and you will make it happen.

It good you have that burning desire which is so vital. Along with desire, you also need to take action to achieve what you desire. So, don't waste time, bring home objective physics and chemistry for dinesh or pradeep. It will be little hard to get started but not very difficult. Once you start studying, increase the momentum, increase studying time, practice as much as you can. 4 months are enough. Just be persistent. Maintain the momentum. 16hr a day, has few health effects, 10hrs a day is fine. But will be difficult in start to straight away study 10hr a day.

When I was in 10th, I realized in january that I am lacking the preparations needed and i can tell you i was weak in everything. But i decided to forgot my weakness instead I become positive with lots of self belief that
I will score above 85%(85% at that time was too much for me). I used to make plans to study each subject like I wrote all 5 marks questions with their answers in a seperate notebook for Social science, I did lots of practice in english and maths, for science I read all the chapters throughly. Result came out and I scored 88% marks, funny thing is I got 46% in preboards. So you see what self belief and ignoring your weekness can do to you.
Always remember these 5 P's ( poor planning prevents poor performance)so, plan your way out for each subject, each project, each exam.

aiims will be bit tough specially bio but is managable.... u need to develop stamina to do 180 questions in 3 hours....you definately need to inspire yourself if you really want to clear aiims.

As far as your feeling goes.... always remember your present thoughts are controlling your future... if you think positive now you are making your future a positive one....
as far as 5 months goes they are enough.... open the book and learn basics and start doing the questions.... do them with confidence and self belief.....
i would advice you to do what your mind and body agrees upon... if you think u can do maths and physics first then go for it but you should always be following what you planned...
I would also advice you to involve use of more and more sample papers... search questions for the chapters you have completed... you will also get a good idea of which chapters are important...

@naman process is very simple, make your goal as to what rank you want.So, you now have your destination and now you just have to drive yourself to destination or practice questions daily and study daily.
Important thing is to persist with your goal. We can make a goal of 30 rank in Dpmt and work hard for 7 days and suddenly forgot it, so you have to inspire yourself and persist with the goal all the time.

If you have problems understanding the concept, use a teacher. But if you can understand the concepts then self study as much as you can and enjoy what you do. You can study like 12-16 hours a day if you enjoys what you do. 90% in board is not a difficult task but you need to be consistent to achieve it.

you should try to gave as much time as possible for studying. I used to devote days or half days to subjects. Like in morning I used to study chemistry( 6am to 11am) and then 3pm to 6 pm I used to study maths and 9pm to 11pm I used to study physics. Sometimes I gives more time to maths or physics. Divide time for each day depending upon your mood and syllabus left.

Well does not matter how much famous is your teacher, if you are not understanding then either change your teacher or raise your level. To develop any skill you need a good teacher and lots of enthusiasm.
For IIT, try to contact former IIT students, seek inspiration and advice from them. Also, try to collect latest IIT syllabus, previous year papers and sample papers. Best thing you can do is to study as much as you can related to IIT syllabus and sample papers but first understand all the basics.

You have very less time and you should study as much as you can in the given time.
Try to concentrate on all three subjects but more on biology. Try to do units with high weightage of questions.
As far as time is concerned, I used to take lots of holidays from school to study for entrance. You have to make your time too study.
Don't make notes and don't study out of context. For entrance you should just know the basics and should practice lots of questions. Try study in detail in biology and inorganic chemistry. Only note important formulas or concepts. Don't waste time making notes. By continuously practicing questions your level of mind will increase and you will remember everything without making notes and sharpness will increase. so, just start studying now.
You get distracted because of lack of desire. Always, keep in mind why you want to get selected in good college, then you will study instead of get distracted.

I would like to know if 4 months of hard-work can help me to crack AIPMT/not.Also what all type of questions can i expect from Group elements as it is very tough to memorize.

try concentrate on IP university, it has good colleges till the rank 5000. Do the questions from sample papers as much as you can, understand the concept. Entrance becomes an interesting game when you know how to play it. So, become a player by first understanding basics and then apply what you learn. It is important for you to increase the level of your mind which is again possible by doing questions at faster speed and more accurately. A stage will come when your instincts will gave answers instead of you. So, practice , practice and practice.

The first step is to understand the basics which you can through any objective book. Once you understand the basics attempt the questions related to what you just learnt.
For biology, the best thing is not to write any notes. If you have to then make very brief notes. You can use trueman's book first up for biology, take a pencil along and note the important lines. Try reading like 30-100 pages per day which is possible if you read fast. So, concentrate on reading fast and understanding it too.
So, first use trueman and then you can attempt questions from your other materials. Also, note down the new things you found other than trueman's.
@nandini physics and chemistry level will be low but still you need to cover the whole syllabus as questions will be from all chapters but the level of questions will be easy.

Hello sir ! it's really nice to see ur page with so many efforts to give right directions to aspiring students selflessly (Applause) ! well the reason why i am writing to you is that i really need a mentor now who can help me out in deciding a way to succeed ! as a matter of fact i am in class 12th now (Delhi region) and have been going to a coaching institute (Career launcher) for 2 year long course . but as i live in NCR region i used to travel a lot in order to reach my coaching centre which hardly gave me any time for self studying . and the situation is like due to lack of revision i don't think i remember anything that's been taught to me at the coaching And in physics the situation is Much worse As i lack even the basics of basic concepts ! Now i have stopped going to my coaching centre as i think with 2months remaining for boards and nearly 4 months for AIEEE it's time for self study rather than going to institute .I am Kinda stressed out and don't know how to start and which books to prefer as i need to start from basics ! I really want to perform at boards As well as in Aieee (have lost hope for IIT JEE ) Coz There're hell lot of mouths which i need To shut + My own interest lies in B.tech. With such a vast syllabus of 11th + 12th tell me a way to Start !

There are two choices for you: either you can stressed out and cursing your luck or something similar OR you can try find the element of your stress and remove it. Clearly in your case, the element causing stress is lack of preparation and also time is closing in quickly.
Best thing now, is to stay as positive as you can. Every subject need the basics to be clear but you don't have to read too much about basics. From what I remember, I used to take an objective book for physics, read out the simple theory and start practicing questions, thats all you need to do.
So, for physics you can prefer dinesh objective book. For chemistry you can look for OP aggarwaal(theory) plus dinesh objective for questions.
For math, you can try sample papers and any objective book like RD sharma. There is still lots of time. Try to increase your speed to gain advantage. The good thing for you is you can study the whole course in 2 months or so and recent memory will help you in the exams.
There are lots of positive. Make your time count.

3 months left now, I think time is enough if you can study like 12 hrs daily. Try study biology( important units) like 8 hrs a day and gave 2 hrs each for physics and chemistry. Try gave it a faster read for biology and try to understand it with fast reading as it will make your mind to develop and will also make it sharp.
Bring all objective books and gave it your best attempt, try read my other comments too.

I don't have much hint about kerala entrance. What you can do is bring all previous year papers and analyse its level. If is of level of aieee or aipmt then you need like 6 hours per day to clear this exam. The more harder it is the more time you need to gave plus more planning is required to clear exams. The important thing is to understand the basics well and practice as many questions of different type as possible.

The important thing to clear entrance exam is to raise your level. The basic level is board level which is of no use in entrance exams which is the reason why student who scores 90% in boards fails badly in entrance exams.
I have discussed some tricks such as fast reading, attempting many questions to raise level of mind. Also, get the entrance syllabus and bring home the objective books and start studying.

I am in bit of a fix. I gave my 11th exams in march 2010. i had to drop 12th because i met an accident and was on bed rest for 6-7 months. i didnt do well in 11th and the tension of my future pushed me in depression. i had tried coaching in 11th, but it didnt help... im preparing for medical.. will re join school in 12th class in april. I havent studied anything since a long time and i am very nervous. i have to do 12th and 11th both... i am scared and low on confidence. :( .. please guide me.. also immense pressure from family is really breaking me.. i am just lost. i really dont know what to do!

@charchika.... I am not aware much about BA entrance exams. All I can advice is to follow the 5 P's which are very necessary for activities in your life. These 5 P's are: proper planning prevents poor performance. So, you can plan on how much syllabus to cover in that much time.... see the chapters from which maximum number of question comes.... also try to read fast and understand as it wwill make your brain to develop more....try to practice as many sample papers as possible to increase in confidence...

@chandan...... you have enough time to study for AIIMS. I prefer you do self study even though u join any institution or not. Self etudy is the base of entrance, whatever u learn n apply u gain from self study only. Bring home the books such as trueman n dinesh objectives for all phy, chem n bio plus questions from coaching classes or test series which you must take in the end.
@rohini.... concentrate on genetics n human organ study as these are easy to understand plus carry some weightage. For physics....u need to doo all major portions such as motion, force, power, wave mechanics, SHM, electromagnetics n optics and similarly for chemistry. However due to shortage of time i advice u to forst study physical n organic chemistry n then inorganic if there is time.

boishali u basically said u r clueless in chemistry....read my article it said how to develop a new talent in you.... u r lacking talent in chemistry...so you basically need to start from scratch.... inspire urself daily.... find a good coach...and lots of practice.....also other read my other comme nts as most of your questons can be answered reading my comments.

Your problem is mainly mental and not academic. You are on low vibration zone right now and negative thoughts are surrounding yourself. Also, pressure on you should be mainly from inside of yourself which should force you to push your limits.
My first advice is to feel positive and increase your vibration level. The easy way to increase v ibration level is to listen your favourite songs, writing beautiful poems or being with positive friends.
Once you are on high vibrational zone then you can concentreate on studies rather than negative thoughts.
Also, 1 year is more than enough for entrance as well as boards. I advice you to start doing study for entrance as booard level is pretty easy. First study all the basics and then attempt questions. Try to increase your speed like 60 questions in 1 hour.
Don't worry you can do well because time is on your side, you just need to rectify negative thinking and increase your vibration level.

If you read my article, there was mentioned that to learn anything you need a good coaching. Coaching can be of any form either books or a person. From my view, I would advice you to have a side by side coaching from any institute But do concentrate on self learning because entrance is all about self development.

For AIIMS buy the ARIhant books for physics and chemistry. For biology you need collective knowledge from Trueman( basic syllabus) plus AKASH institute questions regarding each chapter because recently many students have been selected from AKASH.
Also, Most important thing is to maintain consistency. By consistency I mean study regularly and never break the schedule even if it is 45 days remaining or 365 days. It is very important to keep building momentum and carry it till the end to achieve success.

Join any substantial institute such as Narayana and bring home books such as ARIhant for phy, chem n maths.
First learn the basics and then start doing the questions. Do the self study. Maintain the consistency( read my above response).
At same time, enjoy what you are doing. Entrance is like an adventure where you learn new things each day so enjoy it.

This is your current state and your comments about yourself. It is clear that your current state is very negative. I also said it earlier to keep a positive mindset. In your case, a positive mindset will think about several ways to remove the problem. According to me, your lazyness has to do with you and only you can improve upon it. For the subject, an average student can increase his level of mind and can become a good student. You can do so by consistintly studying and at a faster pace.
Yes, one year is more than enough. I even knows students which got an 80000 all india rank in AIEEE but they got cleared in DCE exam which is just one month after.
So, you first improve the mindset as positivity will bring a fresh energy in you. Try to first clear the basics of the chapter and then attempt lots of questions.

Board and Entrance are two completely different domains. The highest level in board exam is the basic level in entrance exams. Hence, its important to study according to entrance style to clear entrance.
Your marks in Boards shows you are a good student. My advice would be to first bring all the entrance books. I prefer Arihant books for all phy, chem and maths.
Yes, you can surely join any institutions such as Narayana or any local institute given the teacher is good.

Sir, i hv just entered 11th and i have started preparing for Pmt. I have joined an institute. I met my friend's brother recently who has been selected in MAMC.He said that if you want to get in MAMC, which is undubtedly the best medical college in delhi after AIIMS, then you have to study atleast 17 hrs a day.Is it really so? Please tell me how much maximum time should i dedicate to studies in a day at this point of time to come up with a good rank in DPMT?

Hey! I appeared for mostly all the medical entrance exams this year, but didn't clear any of them. I missed them all by a margin of 10-30 marks. I do not want to compromise by taking up another course, and hence I am re-appearing next year for these same entrances. I am strong in Biology and Physics, but very weak in Organic Chemistry.

hi shubam ........i am in xii also am in the same condition.......except for the ambition of clearing aiims...one piece of advice: if people say that engg. entrance is difficult to clear with bio as the subject don't get demotivated. as far i have enquired amongst C++ eco. and other subjects bio has proved to be easy as studying bio is not very difficult . you just have to read the full book with concentration. sorry i know you don't expect any ans like this but i am only sharing my experience.but as far as aiims is concerned i don't have any idea....... anyways ALL THE BEST

Hello sir, i am a 12th student who is too tensed these days.I am an IIT aspirant and belong to a small town, so i dont have a good tutor. I study myself and solve arihant books too, but these days i feel abase. How can I increase my potential and test myself as I dont have an access to any of the good institution. Please help me out

There is bound to be a weakness in one of the subjects....very few are gifted with a strength in all the three subjects....
Anyway, as far as physics is concerned, try not to complicate things too much. Often, we complicate old concepts with new concepts. In physics, Motion is concerned mainly with trajectory and vector algebra which if applied correctly would gave you almost all correct answers. For any problem in anyone of the subject,, try to practice as much as questions possible for that topic and watch their solution and try to understand the concept. Your main aim should be to grasp all the concepts because in many problems concepts can be blended or interrelated.
My advice would be to make your math and chemistry as strong as possible and improve in physics. I usually believe if you are good in maths then you are good in physics except some of the topics. So, just practice and enjoy what you do.
I don't think any individual coaching will be required as it is needed in cases where you need individual assistance for some particular topics. You can ask for some time from your coaching teachers too.
Keep doing questions and enjoy doing them.

I had also been selected in DPMT in general category. If you ask from me, then for physics chemistry I given it like 1-2 hours each day for each subject. The main thing to get selected in DPMT is Biology.
For biology you need
1. Good material
2. Good reading and understanding skills
3. A plan
You can get good material from any good institute such as AKASH. I also prefer trueman along with akash material.
You need to complete all the material and revise it like twice or thrice. For this you need lots of reading thats why they often say read like 17 hours a day. Actually, reading time depends upon your understanding level and reading speed. you should understand what you are reading for like in first read only. Many students often reads the paragraph twice but after some reading practice you should be able to understood it at first time. The second thing is reading speed. I used to read at a very fast speed and after some practice was able to understood the material in first read only. that saved me a lot of time. I used to spend like 6-10 hours daily in biology.
The third thing is plan, you often forgots half of what you learned in like 2-3 days, hence revise what you learned today on like the third day, after one week and after one month. That will help your brain to gather what you have read and understood.
Hence, it all depends upon how much data you are reading and understanding.

Your stage iis very complicated....all you need to do is to simplify things in your life. Just forget whatever happened in the past and focus on your goal which is " selection in Entrance exams". In most exams, a 70% score is good enough to make you select.
So, you should first try and read the chapter thoroughly and then go through all the questions. You main aim should be to first read the chapter at a fast speed and then do the questions at fast speed. Also, try to be score near 70% in the questions you attemps. Make this as your habit and regular routine and slowly increase your speed and score. You can definately get selected in entrance.

I can't see why are you worrying so much about studying term I will affect Term II. As far as entrance is concerned, all you need to do is to first learn the concept and then practice as much as you can. So, for the first part, gave like 1hr per day and do as much questions as you can. The concepts of part I are related to each other so it will not be much of a problem.
The primary thing is to study daily and do as much questions as you can.
The ideal stage is to do like 300 questions per day then you can cover as much syllabus as you can in a very short time.
so concentrate on doing as much as questions possible with a fast speed. At same time calculate the score, if its a 70% score its great and try to get such scores most often.

@swati.....it all depends on your belief. If you can believe if you can do it then you will do it. Also, 8 months are more than enough to prepre for DCE. The important thing is to study daily and build a momentum, and carry it till the end. So, all you need to do is practice as many questions as you can and develop understanding of all the concepts you have learned and DCE will than be a simpler task.

Six months are enough if you want to prepare for medical exams. All you need to concentrate is on studying biology. Spend as much time as possible on studying biology and side by side study physics and chemistry as well. Try to read as fast as possible.

When I was at school, I invested my time in self study rather than going much to school. I did rather maitained a 50% attendence at school. It will be great if you have a talk to your teachers or keep your medical ready for 15 days leave.
Invest as much time as you can in studying biology and practicing different questions. Enjoy the complete process.

@nancy : You have to find time for self study to clear enterance exams. Personally, I never studied for Boards , I just but a ten year, noted important questions and practiced them plus some other important stuff at the very end and got some decent score. So, care less about boards and more about self study because that will decide your personal growth in academic skills which will ultimately help you clear the entrance exams.
@sonia: Its definately possible to clear AIPMT with very good score.....most of students prepare well for AIPMT but only those get selected which studies in a planned manner and who focusses on academic skills and growth. You should invest time in self study, use any decent entrance book and start doing questions. Have a thorough reading of the chapter before attempting questions in the case of biology. Be persistent!!

Yes, if you can meet the deadline of 60% marks then you are fine. the best thing about entrance preparation is that you can prepare for your board exams in a very short time. You should mainly focus on reading fast and understanding, and doing many questions because that will work out your mind and you will increase both on mental stamina and sharpness.

The best thing you have is time with you. I still remember students which starts from scratch like one month before entrance exams and got selected in reputed colleges. So, it basically comes down to your mental skills and stamina. The best way to increase mental skills is to practice as much questions and continuously improving. The main thing is you study continuously and maintains and builds a momentum till the end.
For particular subject, I already had a post in the article regarding new talent. So, consider that for improvement in phy n maths.
Start doing one chapter from each subject at once. And do 11th class chapters and 12th class ones alternatively.

@ankit : the important thing is to be persistant which is to study harder till the end. For the time table, I would recommend doing mainly the biology and u can practice physics n chem questions wen u get bored of studying biology. Try reading theory in biology as fast as possible as this will help you in overall development of brain which you can also see by automatic improvement in physics and chemistry as well.
Also, try to make a timetable suiting your lifestyle as u should follow yourself instead of me. You are good enough yourself.

@arvind : you are your main competitor and you have to defeat yourself everyday to succeed. If you study for 5 hours daily then increase it to 5 hour 15 minutes or even six hours.....if you can complete 50 problems in 60 minutes, gave your best to complete them in 55 minutes or 50 minutes.....that way challange yourself in every way possible....main thing is to improve, improve and improve your current state.....if others are better than you then you too become better than you....just try to improve everyday, every week till the end and I am sure you will be successful....hope you got me....

@aarav : Truemans is good book along with objective Dinesh for questions. You can ask any aakash institute student for any books or aakash material for better preparation.
@ aarvind : By reacting and getting embarrased on such comments will be the last thing you want to do. For better preparation of entrance exams, you need to save your mind power as much as possible. By reacting like angry, depressed or any other emotions will use this mind power and you don't want that.
So, save this mind power and be cool with everything and just focus on your goals.
@tanya singh : For now just concentrate on Entrance syllabus. Try to read biology books as fast as possible and be good with entrance syllabus. For board exams start studying like 10-15 days before first exam and try to do the " ten year" exams which is the questions from last ten years of boards. You will definately get pass. Main focus should be entrance. Study like 6 hours biology and 1 hours for both physics nd chemistry in the starting and then increase time.
u always put much emphasis on fast reading but memorising certain concepts and words of biology takes time. And also i go school which says one must have 75% attendance to be able to appear in boards.

@pratyush ....what you said is important as there are tricky names in biology which are difficult to tackle....learning names is easy for some and very difficult for some....so its important for you to write these names nd revise them daily....for example, I used to write all Algae types in a paper with different specie's names and revise them occasionally....this will soon develop a spot in your mind where you will want to learn names....keep working like that and it will get more easier....and try to read as fast as possible if there is any process described because reading fast and understanding it will be stored in memory for long time if practiced daily....

I think you should prepare primarily for aieee and practice as much entrance questions as you can. For boards, chemistry is similar to aieee's, in physics only derivations are additional which you sometimes also need in entrances but you can take special time out to practice derivations.....for maths if you have strong grip on entrance's maths then board's maths will be very easy for you.....so, maintain a balance where you have suffiecient time for entrance and you can also get good marks in boards...
@malvika....I don't have much idea about clat but if I were at your place I would make sure I would concentrate on entrance preparation as much as I can....but you can still get enough time to do the college work too...
@ Zeba ....it all depends upon your stamina and reading skills....for aiims its important that you have some edge over most other students....so either you are exceptionally good in biology or phy/chem.....so improve on all three subjects and make one of either biology or phy/chem as exceptionally good where you can get like 80% marks....So, prepare with inspiration and dedication....the beauty is you don't even notice whats the time is on clock when you studies with purpose....so give it all....make an edge.....
@salina .....I would prefer self study in case of biology instead of tutions....but AKASH is going famous day by day for preparing for medical.....so you may try that too but that also needs self study to succeed.....so self study is must.....try to revise what you learned today on tomorrow, after a week and after a month....like this content will not dissappear from your mind else if you are not revising side by side....it will be a new start....hope you got me....best of luck...

@shidi : Go for AKASH, it most famous right now....ask some feedback from students about which branch to join.
@sourabh : Don't worry much about concepts, find some difficult book such as Arihant and start doing questions then you will regather the concepts very soon. You need some intense study time. Main thing is you build the momentum and carry it till the end . So, keep studying, work on your speed and accuracy. I don't think TC will have any effect on Aiims because only 12th class documents are required for MBBS unless you have cleared BSC.

@shree : I my prefers self study but for that you should entertain yourself by challanging yourself to do like 60 questions in 60 minutes or less. Keep challanging yourself in terms of speed and accuracy. But you also need something to test yourself. So you can join any test series to know your rank.

yes very much possible. You need to start studying with a goal in mind like reading 60-80 pages a day in biology. Also, don't take any notes, they will save you much time. Important thing is to continue building the momentum and carry it till the end. And whatever you study study it to prefection. It better to have some portions well prepared rather than all the portions moderately prepared. So, topics like genetics, human biology and morphology can be covered solidly and you can give a simple reading to other units.

@priyanka....For AIEEE you need, from now on, 12 hours per day of intense study....try to complete as many questions as you can...see the high weightage chapters and complete them first. Give equaal time to physics, chemistry and maths....CBSE does not matter....it would be better to have coaching if the teacher is good esle self study is suffiecient too.....give it a hard attempt....best of luck
@christy: Study like 12-15 hours a day with more concentration on biology and try to cover the syllabus for physics and chem....First cover the syllabus for biology and underline the important keywords such that at the time of revision those keywords will help you recapture the content....so three important things: first cover the syllabus, then revision and then lots of practice. For physics and chem try to attempt as much questions as possible whether from sample papers or chapters....
@shree: For medical yes....you may also try AKASH notes for better self study....
@sahara....go for the entrance books. You can do self study and then test series. Practice as much different types of questions as you can.

@Divya: your attitude is too passive. Its important that you change your mindset. When you are studying anything, study as if you are making a difference in the way you are learning the concept and at same time study with fast speed. Also, tension decreases mind power which is why you cannot concentrate better. So, from today no anger, no stress and try to focus on only entrance exams. Don't think but study. Try to practice as much as you can. Its never too late.

@Zeba: I apologizes for this really late response. As far as AIIMS is concerned, it is important that you first prepare really well for all phy, chem and biology. You should have studied all the chapters thoroughly to stay in competition. As there are only 20 general seats available, it means you need to perform really well in exam which will be possible only when you have some great exam practice. So, prepare like 50 sample papers before giving any entrance exam. Then, the entrance paper will look like the 51th sample paper.
Always remember these 5 p's : proper planning prevents poor performance. So, study hard, practice as much as possible and be fresh when give any entrance exam.

First of all, never say " Can I do it?". Its just not logically correct with us humans. You should rather say "do I want to do it?". So, stop doubting yourself as this is where you flush all your hard work.
The human brain works in a way where even impossible tasks are achieved if all brain resources are working in harmony towards the specified task. This is just an exam.
Also, if you have not cleared this year then it is not the end of world for you. There is always a next time. Never be lazy and never doubt yourself.

@priya: I like the way you are honest about songs and movies stuff. I also used to watch WWE wrestling while preparing for entrance exams. But there was a time when I like solving physics questions more than any TV show or movies. So, its all about taking interest in what you do. To be successful you need to enjoy preparations for entrance exams. Its completely different from board exams and I am sure you will enjoy entrance. Just go through all the previous comments and practice hard.

Sir, your article was really motivating and has a practical view.
Though I was a very bright student till 10th, my 11th and 12th were average. Now when I introspect, I realise that I lacked proper planning and direction. My counterparts have fared really well as they had a better approach which now leaves me with regret!
I have appeared for IITJEE this year. I admit my preparation was not upto the mark and I'm not confident of cracking it this year. But I've a passion to fulfill my parents' dream and they've always dreamed of me studying in the IITs. I've smashed everyone's dreams. :(
But I've another chance.

Don't worry about the form, you will get it at the end of 12th class. For now, concentrate on all the three subjects: phy, chem nd bio. For MBBS, if you are good in biology then you have already won half of the battle. Try to read and understand with fast speed. It will save you a lot of time. Try move one step at a time. If you are on one chapter then finish that first. Also, bring sample and previous papers and see the chapters with highest weightage. Try to learn those chapters prefectly. You are lucky that you have a lots of time. Utilize that prefectly.

@mokshya: You need to first decide on a goal. Is it B.tech, MBBS or both? If you select B.tech then no need to mug biology. Also, for your timing, I think you are wasting too much in school. I would prefer you to continue study 2-3 hours per day and take holidays in between to have 10 hour sessions. But remember to not take holiday when you are reaching saturation point.

@priya: Yes, I will be coming every 2-3 weeks or before.
@shreya: Its 40 days only, try to concentrate more on biology. Side by side start doing the sample papers and do the chemistry mainly from sample paper. For physics 50 numericals of different types from each chapter of Dinesh objective. If you get more time then do more. So, first try to cover the basics and then do as much as you can.
@karan: It may be a little difficult for you to grab 11th class concepts in the starting but you will start to understand them shortly. Yes, start doing them as soon as possible. Enjoy preparing for entrance as you don't have to stress yourself. You are lucky that you have got full two years. So, utilize them completely. Also, join some coaching to understand the basic concepts and bring books of dinesh objectives for phy nd chem in starting and for mathematics bring RD sharma Entrance book.
@Tusnima: TV serials and shows are attention seekers and may divide your interest towards entrance preparations. I would advice you to start enjoying objective questions. Start doing 25 question sets and calculate your accuracy and then work on increasing this accuracy. Also, for chemistry see my post for developing new talent. Also, your mind has a mental barrier that you are afraid of chem. If you didn't remove that barrier then you will always be afraid of chemistry no matter how much you study. So, start think positively and say yes I can surely master chemistry. Read my previous comments and follow the advices.

I liked that you are aware about lack of proper planning and direction. But you are carrying a very strong negative belief with you: REGRET. Never! Ever!
Edison gave 8000 attempts or 15 years of his life to invent bulb. What if he would have start regretting after 7000 attempts itself about the time and money he wasted. Would there be any bulb then? No.
Also, competition may sometimes be lost with Enemy's excellence but it is always lost with your weaknesses. But you are supporting your weaknesses by regretting instead of eliminating them.
My friend, you have whole life to excel further and you have unlimited potential to do anything. So, never regret no matter what happens. Always move further, thats the rule and always will be.
So, eliminate your weaknesses and the only way is to practice as much as you can. So, open your book and start doing the questions and check your score of every 50 questions you attempt. Work on improving this score. Once you are continuously getting 75% score then you are ready for entrance!!!!!
Also, your friends are still at your level and you are in no way behind them.

@bhavita: I would advice you to go for only sample papers and select some high weight age units. Select your favorite unit or chapters and do as many questions as you can from the sample papers related to those chapters. 7 days to go. So, try to give 12 hour each day which is 84 hours a week. Try to do as many questions as you can. You can still do it. Best of luck

As far as I am concerned, I practiced in the very last month for board exams mainly from Ten years. I wrote down all the questions, questions which are repeated and tried to find answer of each. I got some good marks using this trick. So, I would advice you to currently stress of entrance exams. Also, a student good in entrance will find it Bread and Butter for board exams. So, prepare for entrance.
Also, for the schedule, prepare a schedule in a way that you are fresh mentally and can get maximum time to study being mentally fresh.

It depend whether Pradeep is covering all of entrance syllabus or not. If not then go for Trueman. I never personally used pradeep Biology. so, can't say much in this regard.

@misthy: You should do lot of self study in your case in week days and ask doubts in the weekends. Important thing is get in a group of entrance students. Weekend seems fine according to me as you can study for weekdays and then steam in at weekends for new concepts. Prepare a time table accordingly and also take 0ne or two holidays a week from school to study a whole day.

Fortunately basics of both academics and entrance are same. So, you can study academics and it will create some basics for entrance as well. Of course, you have to cover entrance syllabus as well. For more details, read above comments.

I am an AIIMS aspirant. I can think of nothing else but AIIMS. In AIPMT 2012 I scored 482/800. Quite less. And even in all the mock tests that I attempted at home I scored on an average 50 - 60% marks. All this attributes to my some silly mistakes and forgetting of formulae in the exam or such similar stuff.
I donot know why so...I often panick due to less time and hence leave all in mess.
I believe my self to be an aiimsonian and I know that place is just and just for me. There is no other place in any other medical college for me.

@ khushboo: CBSE marks has no relevance with entrance scores as the level in entrance exams changes drastically. However, as you said you are strong in biology then try to improve more in biology. Bring in Trueman or AKASH notes. Usually I prefer an objective book along with trueman.
For physics and chemistry, bring objective books and try to attempt 50 questions from each subject everyday. It will take time but you will surely improve.

Akansha: I found a few problems in the message you stated. Its good that your aim is to become a doctor but your are acting against you. You are not connected or alignment with yourself properly. I would first advice you to take your decision before listening to any of your friends or parents or me. Its your inner self which will be with you all life long and you should start listening to yourself.
Another problem I found is your energy distribution. Your energy is not focused instead its spread everywhere. Every successful person given time and effort before becoming successful. So, I would advice you to get isolate from other elements and try to focus your energy only on studies. When you will start studying 6 hours continuously with interest the you are back on track. So, if you are still committed then tell your bf about your aim and I am sure he will completely support you.
Also, thinking negative will attract more negatives. You are now in a position where you can only improve. So, stop criticizing yourself and concentrate on your studies. 50 questions a day could be a good start. Bring all objective books and start studying.

@ Divya: I like your goal oriented attitude. As far as coaching is concerned, its 80% self study & 20% from external sources. If you have an intelligent group of friends which discuss entrance each day then you don't need coaching else join any reputable institute such as AKASH. Entrance is Self study but you need 20% motivation from outside sources which acts as a catalyst in self study as well. Plus coaching in institutes will also provide you with useful material as well. So, join any institute and concentrate on self study.

sir.... iam an engg. aspirant. i studied hard for 2 yr(11th and 12th) and took coaching for entrance. though i couldn't clear iit-jee. but i had preapred for aieee such that i could have got a rank of near about 15000 which i predicted through my mark i used to score during practice hr....but unepectedly i became pressuried on the exam day due to pressure from my relatives side. the online resultd in bad prfrmnce in other exam too. i am very disheartened. mode of exam added to the nervousness. i did the exam badly. the depression due to bad perfrmnce in aieee .what shud i do

@khushboo: Objective books Dinesh seems prefect.
@Manisha: Unless you want to go to DU I don't think you should stress of CBSE marks. If you can get marks which will make you eligible to sit in entrance exams, you are in prefect position. I have seen students getting 94% marks in boards and getting 94000 rank in Aieee. So, CBSE has no significance. But I think you can clear IIT with one year preparation. Join a famous institute with good teachers. You can ask institute's students as well before joining institute. Get the related material and books; concentrate on self study. Read all comments above and you will get an idea. Also, your stress is not justified. Time will not come back now so you should move forward and look for new opportunities and start preparing entrance with dedication is the best thing you can do. Best of Luck!
